The7 days Bhutan tour will take you as far as the most beautiful valley of Gangtey and Phobjikha. This valley borders the Black mountain National park to the west. The Phobjikha valley is the roosting ground for the Rare Black necked Cranes in winter. This is one of the most popular tours of Bhutan. You can visit to Gangtey Gompa Monastery started in 1613 by the first Peling Gyalsé Rinpoche. This is the only Ningmapa Monastery in western Bhutan. The highlights are visit to Pele la pass (3351 M) and the high lights in Paro, Thimphu and Punakha

Sketch Itinerary for 7 Days Bhutan Tour:

Day 01. Arrival at Paro – Thimphu (Distance: 54 km, 1 hr drive):


Tamchog Monastery.

Meet and greet at the Paro Airport and drive to Thimphu.

On the way, we stop to view Tamchog Monastery built in the fifteenth century by Thangthong Gyalpo, a wonder working monk.

In the afternoon, visit to:

  • National Postal Museum where you can make personalized stamps.
  • Craft Bazaar where you can buy Bhutanese Handicraft items.

In the evening, visit to:

  • Tashichho Dzong which houses the seat of Central Monastic Body and Office of His Majesty the King.

In the evening, free to stroll in the town for shopping and photography.

Dinner and overnight in Hotel.

Day 02. Thimphu Sightseeing:


Tallest statue of Sitting Buddha.

In the morning, we visit:

  • Dupthop nunnery at Motithang.
  • BBS Tower view point.
  • Changangkha Lhakhang.
  • Takin Preserve center.
  • National Memorial Chorten (1974) built in honor of our 3rdKing, late His Majesty Jigme Dorji Wangchuck, The Father of Modern Bhutan.
  • Tallest Statue of Sitting Buddha in the world (51.5 m).

After lunch, visit to:

  • Folk Heritage Museum.
  • The School of 13 Arts and Crafts of Bhutan) or Zorig Chusum.

In the evening, witness the Archery match at Changlimithang stadium.

Dinner and overnight in Hotel.

Day 03. Thimphu – Punakha (76 Km, 3 hrs drive):


Dochu La pass (3100 m).

After breakfast, drive to Punakha:

  • Visit to the Dochu La Pass (3100 m) with its 108 stupas.
  • Botanical Garden at Lamperi.
  • Chimi Lhakhang or Temple of Fertility built in the 15th century by Lama Drukpa Kuenley.

After lunch, visit to Punakha Dzong built in the 17th century by Shabdrung Ngawang Namgyal.

In the evening, enjoy the walk across the Longest Suspension bridge of Pho Chu River (160 m).

Day 04. Punakha – Wangdiphodrang – Gangtey (74.6 kms, 3 hour drive):


Khamsung Yulley Namgyal Choling Monastery.

In the morning, hike to the beautiful Khamsung Yulley Namgyal Choling Monastery at Yabisa village.

We then drive to the beautiful Gangtey valley. Enroute we stop to view the Majestic Wangdiphodrang Dzong built in the 17th century.

Lunch will be served at Nobding Restaurant.

  • Visit Gangtey Gompa monastery, an important Nyingmapa Monastery built in the 17th

The Upper part of the valley is called Gangtey and lower part is called Phobjikha.

Later in the evening, visit to the Crane Information center.

Explore the beautiful Phobjikha valley.

Day 05. Gangtey – Thimphu (143 km – 4 hrs):

After breakfast, drive to Thimphu. We occasionally stop on the way to take photos. Lunch will be served on the way.

In the evening, free to stroll in the town for shopping and photography.

Dinner and overnight in Hotel.

Day 06. Thimphu – Paro (Hike to the Tiger’s Nest) (Drive Time 1 hour):

After breakfast, drive to Paro Satsam Chorten. Then hike to the Tiger’s Nest (Taktsang) Monastery.

NB: You can hoist prayer flags near the Tiger’s Nest, and offer prayers inside the monastery.

  • Kichu Lhakhang built in 659 A.D by the Tibetan king Srongsen Gampo
  • Drukgyal Dzong built in 1647 by Shabdrung Ngawang Namgyal.

Day 07. Departure:

After breakfast, drive to the airport and farewell.
