5 days Bhutan tour covers 3 districts of Paro and Thimphu and Punakha valley. If you do not wish to visit Punakha, then you can visit the Haa valley or Chelila pass. The high lights of this 5 days Bhutan tour includes visit to Paro Rimpung Dzong, National Museum, Kichu and Tamchog Monastery. The hike to the Tiger’s Nest (Tiger’s Nest) is spectacular and rejuvenating. Other sites are Punakha Dzong, Chimi Lhakhang (Temple of Fertility), the Dochu la Pass with well arranged 108 Stupas.

Sketch Itinerary for 5 Days Bhutan Tour:

Day 1: Arrive at Paro – Thimphu (54 km, 1 hr):


Tamchog Monastery.

Arrival at the Paro airport and drive to Thimphu.

We stop on the way to view Tamchog Monastery built in the fifteenth century by Thangthong Gyalpo, popularly known as the Iron Bridge builder.

After lunch, visit to:

  • 13 School of Arts and Crafts or the Painting school.
  • The National Memorial Chorten built by Her Majesty the Queen Mother Ashi Kesang Choden Wangchuck in the memory of the Third King of Bhutan.
  • Handicraft Bazaar.

In the evening, visit to:

  • Tashichho Dzong, Office of the His Majesty and the seat of Central Monastic Body.

In the evening, free to stroll in the town.

Dinner and overnight in Hotel.

Day 2: Thimphu – Punakha – Thimphu (76 km, 2 ½ hrs):


Dochu La pass (3100 m).

In the morning, drive to Punakha via Dochu La pass. On the way, visit to:

  • The 108 stupas at Dochu La pass (3100 m). We also enjoy the view of the Higher Himalayas.
  • Botanical Garden at Lamperi.
  • The Temple of Fertility or Chimi Lhakhang built by Lama Drukpa Kuenley, the “The Divine Madman”in the fifteenth century.

In the afternoon, visit to:

We drive back to Thimphu.

Dinner and overnight in Hotel.

Day 03. Thimphu Sightseeing – Paro (54 kms. 1 hour drive):


Tallest statue of Sitting Buddha.

After breakfast, visit to:

  • Postal Museum where you can print your pictures on the official Bhutanese stamps.
  • Largest Statue of Buddha Dordenma in the world at Kuenselphodrang (51.5 m).
  • Changangkha Lhakhang, one of the oldest temple of Thimphu built in the 13th
  • Takin Preserve center.
  • The View point at Sangaygang.

In the afternoon, drive to Paro and visit to:

  • The Watch tower of Paro, Ta Dzong which has been converted to the National Museum of Bhutan.
  • Paro Dzong built in the seventeenth century by Shabdrung Ngawang Namgyal.

In the evening, free to stroll in the town for shopping and photography.

Dinner and overnight in Hotel.

Day 04. Paro – hike to the Tiger’s Nest (Altitude 2280 m):


Tiger’s Nest (Taktsang) Monastery.

After breakfast, drive to the base of the hill where the Tiger’s Nest stands.

  • 2 hour hike to the Tiger’s Nest.

After lunch, visit to:

  • Drukgyal Dzong, the ruined defensive fortress built in the 17th century by Shabdrung Ngawang Namgyal.
  • One of the oldest Monastery, Kichu lhakhang built in the 7th century by Srongsen Gampo of Tibet.

In the evening, free to stroll in the town.

Dinner and overnight in Hotel.

Day 5: Departure:

After breakfast, drive to the Airport and Farewell.
